Keep Kids Happy in the Car


I repost this every year right before summer travel time. Enjoy your family time this summer and always.

If you have young kids you can play the "Trip Fairy" Game. Every time you stop the car for gas or a rest you place a little treat in your kids car seat. I always buy treats that I need anyway like: sunglasses, gum, candy, chips, Coke, Disney Band-Aids. This makes the kids happy to rush back to the car. So much fun!! Also, if you are going to Disney and don't want to spend all your money in the gift shops.... Tell your kids that the Trip Fairy will leave a special gift for them in your room. You can place a Mickey Mouse T-Shirt that you bought at the Disney Store before you left home and save BIG MONEY.

If you have a DVD player in your car you can rent Redbox movies for the kids. You can return a Redbox anywhere. So you can watch Scooby Doo from Lexington to Nashville and then rent another DVD along the way.

When you play the Trip Fairy there is no need for your kids to ask for treats at the gas station which will save you lots of time and money.

Great Plant sale in Lexington Friday

The Learning Center at Linlee is having a plant sale this Friday May 11 from 10 am- 5 pm. Will have lots of heirloom tomato and pepper plants for $1, hanging ivy baskets for for $18, flats of petunias, begonias , etc. for $16, geraniums in 4" clay pots $3.50 and others etc. We will have some perennials and native plants as well.

I got a great deal on Dinner Last Night.

So I have started my life once again as a military wife. When we were young and my hubby was in the military I never knew or used any of the military discounts.

Well, with age comes wisdom. Last night we went to Smashing Tomato 
and let me tell you about the great deal I got. It was Kids Night. Yes, a Kids Night on a Monday!!! You have to love that.

The kids each got a pizza and a drink for only $1.99, hubby and me got a pizza and a great salad on Managers special and I had my Smashing Tomato card and got a FREE drink and then the cherry on the Sunday was a 10% Military Discount.

So our whole meal was a SMASHing price of just over $16.

Here is what you need to remember for getting a great deal:
