AIP Diet

When I started this blog I wanted to teach people how to SMASH Stay Home And Save Money with your kids. It is nice to have money and save money but if you don't feel well who cares how much money you have saved. Your health is truly priceless. Two months ago I started the AIP diet in an effort to feel better.

You know you have lost a lot of weight when your leggings are too big. I was not trying to lose weight I was trying to feel better by starting the AIP diet. I feel so much better and bonus I lost weight that had been put on by my messed up thyroid. The crazy thing about the weight loss is I was not "overweight" by medical stanards but I was not my normal thanks to the lovely autoimmune thyroid issues. I encourage you if you don't feel like your normal try eating better. Food can be you medicine. Life is too short to feel bad!

Christmas Traditions

What are your Christmas family traditions? We have a few fun ones. Each kid get three gifts just like the Wise Men gave three gifts. We make up a new code every year and put the code on the gift not the child's name. It is fun bc they try to guess the code and the gift. I never buy sugar/junk cereal but each year as a stocking stuffer the kids get one box of any cereal they want. On this year's cereal list Fruit Loops, Cookie Crisp, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

FREE Hair Cuts for Veterans

Veterans Day

Every year, Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11) gives us an opportunity to thank the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country in the military. This year, Great Clips salons in the U.S. will have its third annual "Thank a Veteran Free Haircut Card" promotion to give our customers a way to show appreciation for the veterans in their lives. While not all of us have served in the military ourselves, most of us know at least one veteran we would like to thank.
How the promotion works:
• On Nov. 11 only, customers who stop in for a service at any Great Clips salon in the United States can receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran
• The free haircut cards are redeemable by all current and past members of the military including active, inactive, retired, disabled and reserve members from any branch.  The free haircut cards are redeemable until Dec. 31, 2015
• Free haircut cards are given away while supplies last. US Salons only.
In addition, veterans can come into any U.S. Great Clips salon on Nov.11 and receive a free haircut that day or receive a free haircut card to be used before the end of the year.  Its our small way of saying a big THANK YOU to veterans.

FREE Mulch in Lexington, KY 9-17-16

Mulch Giveaway – Saturday, September 17

Yard waste collected by Lexington’s Division of Waste Management during the past several months is now mulch. A portion of that material will be given away for free to Lexington residents on Saturday, September 17 at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike.

The mulch will be available for pick up from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., or while supplies last. Residents should not arrive before 8 a.m. The mulch will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited to one pickup truck load per person. There will be a self-load area for those picking up smaller amounts of mulch.

The city, through its contract with Red River Ranch, mulched more than 33,500 tons of yard waste through its composting program in 2015.

“Converting yard waste into mulch is a great way to reuse a material that would otherwise be sent to the landfill,” said Tracey Thurman, Director of the Division of Waste Management. “We are happy to offer both the yard waste service and the free mulch days to the citizens of Fayette County, closing the loop on that waste stream.”

The event entrance will be via Jimmie Campbell Drive. Please look for posted signage that will direct you through the event site. For more information, or call LexCall 311 at (859) 425-2255.

Lexington, KY (PRWEB) February 26, 2016
Top fast-casual pizza restaurant Uncle Maddio's Pizza will open its first Lexington, Ky., location this Friday, February 26. To celebrate the opening and thank the community for its support, the restaurant will serve free pizza to guests in line from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27. Children will also eat free on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The restaurant is located at 630 Euclid Avenue and seats almost 100 people.
Uncle Maddio’s is a next generation pizza restaurant that lets guests build their own pizza exactly how they want it and cooked in fast baked ovens and served to their tables in about six minutes. Everything is fresh, from the pizza dough and sauce that’s made in-store each day to the wide variety of veggies. For guests looking to expand their pizza horizons, Uncle Maddio’s also offers signature pizzas ranging from the meaty Big Max to the spicy Jamaican Jerk and Steak and Blue. Create-your-own salads and Foldwich sandwiches round out the Italian-inspired menu. The restaurant also offers a selection of craft beers and wine.
“The Lexington community has a lot of choices when dining out, but we think Uncle Maddio’s will become their favorite,” said Billy White, Uncle Maddio’s franchisee. “The Uncle Maddio’s New York-style thin crust pizza is Americans’ favorite, and with our fast service and fresh ingredients, we plan to win over families, friends, busy lunchtime diners, and any other guest that wants to join us.”
White and the Sackett brothers have signed on for two more Uncle Maddio’s locations for the greater Lexington area. The franchisees are experienced leaders in the local restaurant scene and already own 11 Jimmy Johns around Lexington.
