If You are not Mystery Shopping You Should Be

I did a crazy fun cosmetics Mystery Shop at the mall today. You can too! I currently conduct mystery shopping with an industry-leading company called BestMark, and enjoy the assignments they provide... and the free services and extra cash is definitely a plus!  It's free to sign up as a BestMark shopper and you are able to view the opportunities in your area as soon as you are hired into the system.  The best part is that I get to provide feedback about the experiences I have at local businesses and I get paid for it!

Here is a link to their free application:

5 Simple Planning Strategies to Save Money And Stay Home with Your Kids

Do you want to save money and stay home with your kids? It will take a little planning, but you can do it.

Making a plan and then sticking to the plan, will save you big money.  Here are Five Planning Steps I use every day to save money and stay home with my kids.
1. Make a Grocery List and Stick to it    Fifty-seven percent of respondents to an eZonomics poll said they spend less when grocery shopping if they have a shopping list.
2. Have An Emergency Fund    By planning ahead for an emergency you will not need to fall back on credit cards as a last resort.
3. Plan a Written Budget    Budgeting is just spending your money with intention and a plan. Here's the hard part, don't buy anything that isn't already in your budget.
4. Never Buy Just Because It Is On Sale    Plan what you need and then find it at the best price. Don't fall victim to an irresistible deal.
5. Plan Your Treats  Plan your treats like movie dates, out to eat meals and entertainment around coupons and deals.

My youngest child Baylor, who just turned 7 this week, inherited my Type A planning gene. He came to me with a To Do List for his day and wants to call a family meeting to hold people accountable for their chores. His desire to be organized is adorable.

Plan where every dollar will go, stick to your plan. You can do it!

Use Facebook to Save Money on Big Purchases

It is not always easy to Save Money And Stay Home with your kids. This month we put two kids in glasses and one in braces, all big ticket items.

Whenever you have to make a BIG purchase ask your friends in your Social Media world for tips.

It's fast, free, and incredibly valuable.

I asked friends on Facebook who they used for their kids orthodontist and why. It was a great conversation. I learned all kinds of tips I needed to know to be a better consumer, saving me time and money.

More important than money, my Facebook survey led us to a Christian orthodontist who is great at what he does and has a Christ-like bedside manner.

So, whether you are shopping for a car, a house, or braces, just ask your Facebook friends for advice.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We are very aware of childhood and cancer and I want to help you know the signs. Push your doctor. Never let them send you away without finding a reason behind your child's symptoms. We let a doctor send us away too many times and it almost cost my son his life. God is good all the time and our son is in remission on his way to total healing.

Signs of Childhood Cancer

Continued, unexplained weight loss
Headaches, often with early morning vomiting
Increased swelling or persistent pain in bones, joints, back, or legs
Lump or mass, especially in the abdomen, neck, chest, pelvis, or armpits
Development of excessive bruising, bleeding, or rash
Constant infections
A
 whitish color behind the pupil
Nausea which persists or vomiting without nausea
Constant tiredness or noticeable paleness
Eye or vision changes which occur suddenly and persist
Recurrent or persistent fevers of unknown origin
