State law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets have updated rabies vaccinations.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Rabies Control Program had reports of 740 animal bites last year; each of those animals received an updated vaccine.
Rabies is a viral disease that can affect humans, pets, and wild animals and is transmitted through the saliva of a rabid animal usually through a bite.
By getting pets vaccinated, it helps to protect your pet as well as yourself and other people safe.
In addition to the discounted rabies vaccine, the cline will also allow owners to purchase animals licenses for $8 if the animal has been spayed or neutered compared to the regular $40 cost.
The clinic is also sponsored by the Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control, the Lexington Humane Society, the Lexington-Fayette County Division of Parks and Recreation Department, Gainesway Small Animal Clinic and MedVet Medical and Cancer Center for Pets.
