The system operates on the Sprint network, so anywhere Sprint has coverage, you will have coverage. In addition, anywhere you have free wi-fi, you will also have full coverage.
Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? So what's the catch?
The catch is, you will use their $199 Motorola phone with Android operating system, equipped with their cost saving software that seeks wi-fi connections to save on cell tower service. So if you have your heart set on another phone, you'll have to stick with a name brand high cost provider.
The phone is slim, powerful, and fully capable. If you are an iPhone user, it will be an easy switch.
By default, your phone is constantly seeking free wi-fi to avoid using Sprint's expensive towers. So the battery will drain quickly. After a few days of playing with the settings, turning off wi-fi when I know there is no wi-fi around, has saved my battery.
There is a gentlemen's agreement among the users, to keep costs down for everyone's benefit. They kindly request that you avoid excessive use while on the towers. I am happy to comply.
I love Republic Wireless, love my new phone, and will never go back to name brand premium phone service.
