May 10 from 6 to 9 PM Low-Cost Rabies Shots in Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- There is a new location for Lexington pet owners can get a low-cost rabies shot this year.
This year, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s annual Rabies Vaccination Clinic will be held at Castlewood Park, 201 Castlewood Drive on Thursday, May 10 from 6 to 9 PM.
Vaccinations will cost only $3 compared to the usual $20.
Cats must be in carriers and all dogs must be on leashes.
The date of the clinic is subject to change depending on the depending on the weather.
The health department will post updated information on its website at www.lexingtonhealthdepartment.org and on its Twitter account at twitter.com/LFCHD.
State law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets have updated rabies vaccinations.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Rabies Control Program had reports of 740 animal bites last year; each of those animals received an updated vaccine.
Rabies is a viral disease that can affect humans, pets, and wild animals and is transmitted through the saliva of a rabid animal usually through a bite.
By getting pets vaccinated, it helps to protect your pet as well as yourself and other people safe.
In addition to the discounted rabies vaccine, the cline will also allow owners to purchase animals licenses for $8 if the animal has been spayed or neutered compared to the regular $40 cost.
The clinic is also sponsored by the Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control, the Lexington Humane Society, the Lexington-Fayette County Division of Parks and Recreation Department, Gainesway Small Animal Clinic and MedVet Medical and Cancer Center for Pets.
